FYI for parents and care-givers ...

Speech - Speech includes articulation, voice and fluency.   Speech-articulation refers to the production of sounds or phonemes.   It includes the oral motor ability (jaw, lips, tongue) to produce sounds. Voice is the presence of resonance combined with oral articulation that allows sound to come out of the mouth. Fluency is smooth, spoken, effortless speech .

Language   Language is very complex and essential to daily function.  A brief definition of language includes the comprehending/expressing of vocabulary and basic concepts (semantics), the ability to form words, phrases, sentences, and connected speech (syntax/morphology), the ability to express messages/wants/needs and then respond appropriately to others (pragmatics).
