Answers
1)  Q What if I'm absent when we have a test?
A
You need to come in before school or after school prepared to take the test. You have one day for every day you are absent to make up your test. After that, unless you have scheduled a date with me before your time is up, your grade will become a zero!!!
2)  Q Where can I get handouts and papers I missed when I was absent?
A
There is a tan color file box on the table by the door. In that box is a file for each class period. You should have a file folder with your name written on it. In the file folder will be handouts and returned papers from the day you were absent. It is your responsibility to check your file when you return.
3)  Q What happens if I lose my book?
A
Let me know immediately. Hopefully you wrote your name and C7 in the book. If you did this, your book should turn up. If it does, I will let you know. In the meantime, I will check out a second book to you. If you have not found the original book by the end of the year (or semester if you are in a semester class), you will be charged for the book. $60. for LA III text, usually $15 to $20 for LA III novels, $50. for AP English text, $20. for Reading Like a Prof. book, $15 for AP Cliffs book, usually $15 to $20 for the novels, $47 for College Writing. You don't want to lose your book or leave your backpack in the back of your truck. Wet books will cost you also!
4)  Q How will I know where to sit?
A
When you walk in the door, there will be a seating chart. Follow the directions and find your seat. I will help you if you need help.
5)  Q Why won't you let us eat food and drink soda?
A
When you are eating, you are paying attention to what you are eating and how to hide it from me. If you drink soda, chances are it will get spilled which means a nasty spot on the floor and time taken away from teaching and learning to clean it up. But don't despair, for rewards we will have snack days.
6)  Q Will you let us use cell phones?
A
Absolutely not! I expect you to turn off your cell phones before you enter my class. Remember you are not supposed to use them in school.
7)  Q What supplies do I need?
A
one sturdy 3 ring binder (1 ½ or 2 inches).
one two pocket folder to take home materials for study.
8 dividers
blue or black ink pens, red or green ink pens, #2 pencils
white out
highlighting pens
Post-it notes (all sizes)
one 70 page spiral notebook
one pack of wide ruled loose leaf paper
a way to save documents on the computer so that you can work on them at home and at school. I recommend a memory stick.
