Answers
1)  Q When can I get help?
A
I am available both before and after school. Also make wise use of advisory blue passes. This allows you opportunity for help during school hours.
2)  Q What supplies will I need for class?
A
ACT Prep: pencil, paper, and an approved calculator if you wish
Physics: pencil, paper, calculator
Books will be provided for physics.
All classes require good attendance and a readiness to learn.
3)  Q What is the makeup work policy?
A
The district requires a minimum of additional time equal to the number of days you were absent. I am more lenient because I want you to learn the material. You will have until the end of the following test to complete all old work. After this point it is becoming busy work for you and you are very behind.
4)  Q What should I do if I am absent?
A
Try to read the next section of the book and keep working on the homework. E-mail me while you are out or see me as soon as you get back for specific handouts and information that you missed. This website will also become a resource for you to access handouts and information.
5)  Q What is physics?
A
Merriam Webster says: a science that deals with matter and energy and their interactions

Physics is the study of nature and all physical processes. It attempts to describe the entirety of the Universe in a few simple, elegant laws.
6)  Q What is physics weighted?
A
Physics is weighted two and AP physics is weighted three.
7)  Q What is different about AP physics?
A

We will cover much of the same material as regular physics. There will be more depth covered. There are a few additional chapters and topics that will be presented. As well there will be a larger focus on problem solving preparing any student to take the AP exam in the spring. In addition to having the opportunity to earn AP credit this class is now offered as dual credit through SEMO .

8)  Q When is the ACT?
A

The ACT is offered every even numbered month, except the August is pushed back to September. The most up todate information will be at the ACT website .

9)  Q Am I required to take the ACT for ACT Prep?
A
Yes. You must present an admission ticket to either myself or Mrs. Theiss. The fall semester takes the December ACT and spring the April test. Your score on the ACT does not affect your grade.
10)  Q How can I find out more about the Jackson Engineering and Robotics Club?
A

You can visit here: JERC .

Or you can ask Mr. House or myself. We are very excited about this program and hope to see it grow.

11)  Q What if my parent wants to contact you?
A

If your parent wishes to contact me please do not hesitate to do so. I can be reached by phone at the school or by e-mail at bmiller@jackson.k12.mo.us

12)  Q How can I find out my grade?
A

Parent Link should be used by both students and parents. For students I keep an updated list of grades and missing assignments in the room. If you would like something more current than the list please just see me outside of class. You can also ask your advisory teacher.

13)  Q What is JERC, and who do I talk to about these robots?
A
JERC is the Jackson Engineering and Robotics Club. Mr. House and I are the club sponsors. We participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge each year. Robotics club starts up in September and runs almost until spring. While it is a big time commitment we can work with almost any schedule if you would like to be part of the team.
