Reading for All Learners Program (RALP)
In all kindergarten and first grade books, the animal characters and settings provide a high interest, cross-cultural context. The instruction builds skills and positive attitudes to reading. This approach allows the child to experiences success in reading.
When a child completes Set 1 in the Reading for All Learners Program. The child has mastered: □ 15 new sounds: a, d, short e, long e, f, i, l, m, n, o, r, s, t, u, w □ 3 new combinations: sh, th, wh □ 73 new regular words (1 syllable) □ 9 new sight words (1 syllable)
When a child completes Set 2 in the Reading for All Learners Program. The child has mastered: □ 3 new sounds: b, h, o □ 1 new combination: al □ 98 new regular words (1 syllable) □ 8 new sight words (1 syllable)
When a child completes Set 3 in the Reading for All Learners Program. The child has mastered: □ 10 new sounds: a, c, g, j, k, p, x, y, t and u □ 2 new combinations: er and ou □ 109 new regular words (1 syllable) □ 15 new sight words (1 syllable)
When a child completes Set 4 in the Reading for All Learners Program. The child has mastered: □ 6 new sounds: i, u, v, y, z, and o □ 4 new combinations: ai, ar, ing and ou □ 374 new regular words (1 to 2 syllables) □ 44 new sight words (1 to 2 syllables)
